What is Perimenopause and Menopause?

Menopause is a a natural process women go through once their ovaries stop producing estrogen, progesterone and testosterone. It is officially diagnosed once you have not had a period for one year. Women may begin to feel the symptoms of menopause but still get their period. This transition is called perimenopause. During this transition women will go to their physician complaining of menopausal symptoms but since they are still getting their period they are only given pharmaceutical medications to mask the symptoms. Dr. Peña uses natural approaches to help women transition from perimenopause into menopause gracefully.

What treatments exist for menopause?

In the perimenopause state, Dr. Peña uses a wide variety of nutraceuticals to optimize a patient’s natural production of hormones.

Once a patient transitions fully into menopause and does not have any hormone production of their own, Dr. Peña does offer natural plant based hormone replacement options. Decades of research throughout the world has proven these natural methods to be safe and effective.

Depending on the patient’s preference and medical conditions, Dr. Peña may recommend options including oral, topical and subdermal hormone replacement treatments.

Biote- Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy

Bio-identical hormones are a natural plant source for hormones which allow us to bring back the protective balance we had before the rapid aging process begins. Chronic diseases set in as a result of our loss of protective hormones. This treatment is beneficial to both men and women. Estrogen and/or Testosterone pellets are inserted under the skin and last for months. This means no more creams, patches or shots needed for everyday maintenance. Reintroducing the hormones that have begun to decline in the body naturally relieves patients of unwanted symptoms and prevents progression of chronic disease.
