How do I know if I have an irregular period?

An irregular period will be classified as one of the following:

  • Menorrhagia- Heavy period that lasts over a week

  • Amenorrhea- Not having a period for 3 menstrual cycles

  • Oligomenorrhea- Menstrual cycles that are more than 35 days apart

What could be causing my irregular periods?

How are irregular periods resolved?

Some additional studies that may be needed are:

  • Trans-Abdominal & Trans-Vaginal Ultrasound

  • Blood test

  • Hysteroscopy

  • Biopsy of the uterine lining
