Infertility

Here at Gables Health we understand how frustrating it can be for couples struggling with infertility. Dr. Peña’s approach is unique in that she works with couples to find the cause to their infertility, not just bypass the problem.

What are the signs & symptoms of infertility?

  • Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)

  • Endometriosis

  • Repetitive miscarriage

  • Chronic vaginal discharge

  • Trying to get pregnant for more than one year

  • Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS)

  • Other health problems

  • Pain during sex

  • Dark or pale menstrual blood

  • Irregular or abnormal bleeding

  • Irregular menstrual cycle

  • Hormone changes/ hormone imbalances

  • Premature menopause

  • Obesity

  • Uterine fibroids or polyps

Just because you may have some of these signs and symptoms of infertility does not mean you may never get pregnant.

What are my infertility treatment options?

It is important for you and your partner to educate yourselves on all the different treatment options to achieve pregnancy. Here are the most common methods and success rates:

1. Medications to induce egg development & ovulation

Success rates are usually 20-25% for a healthy fertile couple.

2. Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)

Women under the age of 35 have a 10-20% chance of pregnancy and women over the age of 40 have 2-5% chance of pregnancy.

3. In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)

IVF does not identify or treat the reason for infertility but bypasses it. Average cost is $12,000-$30,000 per cycle without medications (medications average $4,000-$10,000).

Women under the age of 35 have a 31-33% chance of pregnancy and women over the age of 40 have a 4% chance of pregnancy.

4. NaProTechnology

Dr. Peña’s preferred method is NaProTechnology. It uses Creighton Model charting to identify the cause of infertility. Then NaProTechnology treats the cause of infertility so pregnancy can be achieved naturally. Cost will depend on what treatment is required but the cost is significantly less than IVF. Parts of the treatment may even be covered by insurance.

Success rates of pregnancy with NaProTechnology for diagnosed infertile couples, after failed artificial treatments is up to 52.8%.

Success rate of pregnancy of NaProTechnology without prior artificial treatments is up to 80%.
